Rhonda Writes -
I spent some time talking to Eric's doctor today regarding his tests. The MRI and EEG showed no additional problems. There were no positive changes yet but he said it could take 6 months to a year from the brain to start healing itself.
Jarrod came in and gave Eric a shave. It was sweet!! I took a picture and plan to send it to Tom to load on the website. Dr. Hunter is going to allow the kids to visit Eric. He's checking to see if he can get clearance for them to come into his room so he can remain hooked up to his goodies (oxygen, monitors, etc.). That would be awesome!!!
PT and OT came in today and sat Eric up on the side of the bed, then into his new wheelchair. He stood the wheelchair for about 20 minutes then asked to go back to bed. While he was sitting up, they worked with him on posture and balance. It doesn't take much to wear him out. He's been asleep for about 2 hours now. I've been working at the hospital today so I could check out all the cool things they're doing to him. The speech therapist also told me that he coughed a bit today when they suctioned his trach. This is a HUGE accomplishment and very exciting news. Eric also pulled his right leg up a bit when they turned him on his side. Another huge accomplishment! The staff here is wonderful and I'm so happy with the care he's receiving. I know Eric is too.

This is such great news!!!! I'm not surprised to hear that Eric is making progress. It takes a strong willed person to get through what he's been through and he will continue to keep making progress because of this. I know he will be excited to see the kids and them excited to see him. It's got to be hard on them, but at least they are able to see him. This is great therapy for Eric. Keep the faith and we will keep praying for his speedy recovery.
love ya

Hey Rhonda,
I love the picture of Eric being shaved by his buddy! I think Eric looks wonderful considering what all hes been through. You tell him I said he is still "HOT" and sooooo "goodlooking". He hasn't changed, just smaller! Tell him to keep up whatever he's doing. Because it's working!!!!!
Love ya
Cindy
